[Rack Performer 0.96-alpha3 - detailed release notes]

#1
--[Version 0.96-alpha3]--

[MODULE] Octo-Channel Clock-Free Master Module (8x8 master)
[MODULE] 16-Channel Clock-Free Master Module (16x16 master)
[MODULE] 32-Channel Clock-Free Master Module (32x32 master)

These three master modules complete the clock-free line and unlock the full multi-channel capabilities of RP. They come with per channel mute and gain controls.

[MODULE] Camo Mixer x4 (simple 4 channels mixer)
[MODULE] Camo Mixer x8 (simple 8 channels mixer)
[MODULE] Camo Mixer x32 (simple 32 channels mixer)

Those complete the Camo Mixers line, simple, efficient channel mixers. Per channel peak LEDs were added for convenience in this new version.

[MODULE] Stress Tool (special stress-load test module)

As the name implies, this is a special module to test your configuration under stress. It can be useful to determine the mininmum "safe" audio latencies by setting buffer sizes large enough to sustand small stress bursts (simulating unexpected background OS tasks or services hogging the system)

[DETAIL] More uniform fonts and enhanced readability

We completely changed the fonts used throughout the application (windows and GUI's) improving global readability. The fonts are ClearType optimized but unfortunately they don't look very crisp when using the standard anti-aliasing mode in Windows XP. We recommend to enable ClearType, but if this is not an option for you, please let us know, as we might consider changing the fonts another time.

[DETAIL] Various GUI speed and performance optimizations

Many optimizations to make GUI refresh consume less resources and to render faster.

[DETAIL] Master module state is now saved in scene snapshots

The first design decision was to not include the master module in scene snapshots, but as they all act as stand-alone audio mixers it's better to have them in (especially with the new multi-channel masters)

[DETAIL] CPU overload protection can be set from config menu

If ever it gets in your way, you can now easily disable it.

[FIX] Corrected a sneaky problem linked to patch buffer sharing optimization

This bug is too technical to explain, and it occurred only under very specific patching schemes, involving modules using the patch buffer sharing optimization.

[FIX] Corrected many font-related display issues

We had many long lasting issues around some fonts displaying poorly or even stepping out of their intended boundaries. These should now all be fixed by the new fonts used.

[FIX] Fixed possible reentrency path in CPU overload protection

It was possible (after a severe engine crash for instance) to have the CPU overload protection trigger continuously, with the "operation time-out" message box poping up several times.

[FIX] Repaired all multi-devices DSound wave engines

Most multi-devices DirectSound engines were simply not working. Being not widely used, it appears nobody noticed...

[FIX] Hardened DSound wave engines (better stress resistance)
[FIX] Improved X-run detection in DSound wave engines
[FIX] Improved X-run detection in MME wave engines
[FIX] Fixed nasty bug in "Auto Poller MME" wave engine
[FIX] Fixed nasty bug in "Compact Cluster MME (single)" wave engine
[FIX] Fixed "Auto Poller MME" wave engine soft-start
[FIX] Fixed "Flexible Propeller MME" wave engine soft-start

Many corrections for the legacy wave engines. This should solve some weird issues, for those not using ASIO.
