[BUG REPORTING GUIDELINES}

#1
Introduction

We need your feedback, especially bug reports and VST plugin problems reports, so here are the guidelines to follow.

Reporting bugs and problems

Before reporting a problem, please try to read this forum to see if it hasn't already been reported before, this will save you some time. A list of known issues will be maintained here

The best way to report a bug is to create a post here and eventually join the logs as attachments (when they are relevant or if we ask for them, see below)

Bug reports by mail will receive the same attention level, but other users will not be aware of them, so the process will be less cooperative. We invite you to use the forums as much as possible.

Locating and sending application logs

The application creates 4 log files containing useful information to trace problems. When reporting a bug we might ask you to join these 4 files when it's relevant.

Logs are erased and re-created every time the application is executed, meaning that if you experience a bug, you must save and send the log before trying to run the application again.

When the application is running, you can mail the logs very easily by selecting the following menu item: "Help -> Send error logs by mail". This should trigger your default mail client and compose a new message for you with the logs attached. You can write your bug report directly into the mail body.

Sometimes this option will not be available and you'll need to locate the files on your drive by hand. That's the case when no default mail client is configured. Inside the application, select the "Help -> Locate log files on disk" menu item and an explorer window will open to the correct directory.

Quote:
At last resort, under Windows2k/WindowsXP, logs are located in this directory:

"C:\Documents and Settings\<-your-user-name->\Local Settings\Application Data\Abeem\RP"

Under WindowsVista/Windows7, logs are located in this directory:

"C:\Users\<-your-user-name->\AppData\Local\Abeem\RP"

Note: these folders are hidden by default, you need to change Windows explorer options to display them.

Sending the logs via the recovery console

In case of heavy crash the application recovery console should popup. Whatever the isssue, there is an option to send the logs by mail which works exactly like described above. Don't hesitate to use it.

Wishlists, feature requests etc.

We are sure you have tons of neat ideas about things we could add or improve in Rack Performer and we would love to ear them!

We are open to your suggestions and we will read all your remarks with great attention.
